Martha,
Would you mind changing the title of my October 16 talk to simply
"What's Important?"  I think of introducing time and money allocation
as a measurement of what is important to a person as kind of a
punchline, and I don't want to give that away in the title.
Encouraging people to think about what's really important to them is
the crux of the message.

	MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 7, 2016  MEETING OF THE WORSHIP & MUSIC
COMMITTEE 

	NEXT MEETING:  WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5,  5:00 P.M. IN PARLOR

	Attendance:  Adeline Bailey, Kat Hawbaker, Shari Miller, Martha
McGovern (Chair)

	* Minutes of the meeting on August 3 were approved.

	* Correspondence:  SHARI reported that she is caught up with thank
you notes and will send one to the Planetarium.

	* Follow-up on the hospice presentation:  KAT -- Visiting Team,
Patricia Shelden about a Saturday workshop and Sunday morning service
in the fall.

	* Reports from Specific Task Teams:  

	* Sanctuary Decoration Team: KAT is working with Jane Tumas-Serna and
Tabatha Hubbard to set up the Sanctuary for the Ingathering Water
Ceremony.  The committee will move the hymnals up to the Sanctuary
after the meeting.  

	* Special Music Team:  KAT will contact Lydia Hyde for a future
service.

	* Piano Task Force:  no new information   

	* Technology Task Force:  Ralph Olander and Mike Bailey will
investigate device for smooth transmission of images from the computer
to the TV as well as an updated projector.  KAT will ask them to
compose guidelines for providing recorded in-gathering and sending
music in the desired format.  The guidelines will be published in
_The Confluence_.

	* Task Force for the Time for All Ages:  Shari Miller, Kerry Blair,
Dawn Weidner, Cindy Burton, Diane McMichael, Adeline Bailey, and Ron
Tepley.  (Rachel Hyde, Gwen Banziger -- possible additions)  

	* Clutter Corps: (Contact - Wendy Morey)   KAT will talk with the
Board to see where the Clutter Corps fits in the organizational chart
so that communication and decision-making are systematic.  

	* Music stands:  SUZYN 

	* Selection of Specific Lamp for Piano:  JOE BAKER 

	* Expenses:  Payment to Planetarium The Planetarium provides this
free program and receives credit for Community Service. The W & M
Committee will send a thank you note.      

	* THEME FOR YEAR 2016-17:  The group concurred that the summer
services can start to weave in the years theme of What does democracy
look like? 

	* Possible Topics and speakers for future services:  multiple
intelligences, forgiveness,  powerful childrens stories, ages of
women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values,
June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU
congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer on
suicide and kindness,  reflections of former ministers, JIM COUTS ON
JUBILEE GARDENS, LEEANN GALLUCCI ON RECOVERING FROM LOSS, JEFF DANNER
(MJWD58 at YAHOO.COM [1]) THEOLOGICAL TOPIC OF CHOICE, LIVING MINDFULLY
PREPARE FOR THE UNEXPECTED (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera,
Virginia Mayle), Harvest of Hope, anti-bullying and Sharis Flower
Story, Quill as a storyteller, Quakers on consensus.

	RECONSIDERATION OF ORDER OF WORSHIP SERVICE

	The Committee discussed and concurred that

	* Wheel of Life/Joys for effectiveness, it needs to be carefully
introduced.  

	* The Committee supports the encouragement of donations during the
service and also recommends that BRIDGES incorporate a collection as
part of the young peoples classes.  It would be good if they selected
a cause/purpose and then collected each week toward that goal.
