First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta

Much is made of the idea that the United States was founded as a Christian nation.  The historical record seems clear that it was not, yet many politicians continue to insist on this country’s “God’s-most-favored” status. Today let’s consider other historical attempts to yoke Christianity to empire and also examine the many reasons why establishing a state religion is bad, not just for the state and for the people, but also for the church as well.
