Oct. 12: Indigenous Peoples' Day
Every Sunday, we acknowledge the native people who protected this land long before us, but what does “protect” really mean?
On this Sunday before Indigenous Peoples Day, we will seek guidance from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book, Braiding Sweetgrass. In our time, what advice from Native Americans may inform our efforts to protect the land and each other? The service will include the Choir, directed by Martha Webster, singing “Mother Earth, Beloved Garden” by Amanda Udis Kessler; Ami Rush reciting a prayer from her heritage; and readings by
members of the congregation.
