Oct. 26: Panentheism
Dr. Martha McGovern will provide the reflection
In a nod to our Big Questions theme, this service will introduce Panentheism, one of theologian Sallie McFague’s models of God. We’ll clarify how Panentheism is more expansive than Pantheism, and we’ll ponder some questions: What if Earth and all its many creatures and elements is the body of God? What if God is the spirit of the body we call Earth? And what if that spirit is in relation with Earth in the same way that we are in relation with our bodies? How will that conceptualization shape our sense of reality, influence how we design our society, and guide how we live our daily lives?
