Hi Darryl,
As you know, Membership thought it would be best to limit it to
newcomers; no firm decision from W&M, although it's mainly
directed toward newcomers. While we've been working on it, we've
discovered that there's info we thought "everyone" knew that
everyone doesn't.
As for philosophy of inclusion, please direct comments to the
groups--Board? Social Justice?-- who were drafting it (this is a
draft, so I presume they would be interested in your reactions)
for final consideration at a congregational meeting in September.
Thanks for your review,

Is this new folder to be given to newcomers or everyone?

Under philosophy of inclusion. The language of the first two
sentences sound very ideological and academic. Can we find
words/expressions that the visitor/newcomer can relate too more
easily? Also, can we include in this section, the idea that we
welcome people with a wide variety of religious beliefs that
inspire them to live a moral life as expressed by our
principles. "Whatever beliefs are helpful to you in leading a
moral life" are words that have resonated with newcomers. You
could even include some examples within our congregation
(Christians, atheists, Buddhists, pagans, agnostics, Jewish,
Sikh are some I know of).

Thanks,

Today is your deadline to send corrections, suggested edits,
etc. for the new folder we hope to try this summer. I have done
some more work on the piece - reduced type size, added more info
in some areas, corrected some typos that we had noticed-- and in
general, I am happier with it. This is still a draft version; I
need additional staff photos (Tabatha, Lela, Becca, Emily (kind
of faked one of Emily-not very good) and good contact info for
Becca Immele to request her photo (or take one), and Kat's edit
on the Worship section. (I'm OK with the way the philosophy of
inclusion fits now.) When you've had a chance to review the
piece, or review this second draft, please respond with your
edits.
Thanks,
