I spoke with Dennis Cavalier who told me that the tree is slated to be trimmed of dying branches that are in danger of falling on people, houses, cars. It is not to be cut down per an e-mail from the mayor, to Dennis.<br></div><div><br></div>

It’s big, it’s old, it’s dropping limbs and damaging the sidewalk, but it’s healthy, and provides shade and habitat. Two of its neighbors want it cut; other neighbors are clueless about it. Roger is working with the Tree Commission. Cutting this tree will cost an estimated $14K, Roger said (?!?), and the city is cash-strapped.
