<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">Please join us on Thursday, January 26, at 7 pm CT/ 8 pm ET for our Great Lakes LTE Writing Party.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">This is an opportunity for anyone to turn up on Zoom, write a letter to the editor (LTE), and submit it to a local newspaper before the hour is out! </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">We know that the staffers for our members of Congress monitor the local newspapers, so this is an effective way to let them know that climate change is a priority issue for their constituents. If we mention our elected officials by name in published letters, it is likely to end up on their desks!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">We will start with a quick six-minute training for anyone who needs it, then discuss timely letter-writing opportunities before muting/turning off cameras for 20 minutes to write. Letters to the editor average about 250 words. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">After the writing period, participants will return to the group session, and anyone who would like to share can read their letters or ask questions. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #3c4043; font-weight: 400;">Please note, this event includes a short visual presentation and helpful links to access as you write. Joining the meeting via computer is preferable to maximize the experience and resources. </span></p>
