<div dir='auto'>Hi everyone,<div dir="auto">Debra's suggestion is a good one!</div><div dir="auto">I'd be happy to write up something to send to the Times and N&S. But I need some info: was there a message from IPL informing us of our runner-up status? I never heard anything about our success until Rev. Kat announced it in the order of service (and in the service) last Sunday. Since then, I have seen the announcement of all the Cool Congregation winners and runners-up on the IPL website, but surely someone got the news prior to that. </div><div dir="auto">Anybody know? If so, can you share? And if someone else already sent info to the papers,</div><div dir="auto">thank you very much!</div><div dir="auto">Adeline</div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Mar 2, 2022 10:08 PM, Debra Miller via Green <green@fuusm.org> wrote:<br type="attribution" /><blockquote class="quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><p dir="ltr">This should be highlighted in the local papers </p>

This was impressive. The Green Sanctuary Committee engaged city officials and received private grant funding. The group salvaged native plants before thoughtfully using black plastic to suppress invasive plants. The church won support from neighbors, a landscape company (free mulch) and the city. Volunteers now lead tours and other groups are looking to replicate their success. The beautiful, native pollinator garden in such a public spot is an inspiration to others to do something similar. This project is a good example of what a small congregation can do when their own property is limited.<br>
