And while we are probably not yet a mature enough planting to map ourselves as part of the Homegrown National Park, what do you think about having this sign printed to have at Harmar Days?

I am pleased to report that our plantings are doing well. Unfortunately, so are the invasives. A small team of us has been meeting at 7:45 on Tuesday mornings to tackle the nasties, and more team members are always welcome. If anyone is interested in setting
up a subcommittee to plan further work on the site, I would be most grateful. As the site expands, it will benefit from a planning team.

Needs that I have noticed (so there are probably others):

Watering schedule. Hot, dry weather is hard on young plants.

Removing plants that have grown up between the sheets of solarization plastic. Some are actually desirables, like silphium, but we can only use so many eight-foot yellow daisies. I have whacked some back but have not attempted to clamber around alone.

Extra black plastic for patching. Does anyone have any you are willing to part with?

Weights for the plastic--more of the flat cat litter or similar jugs (heat and sun have caused some to deteriorate and leak, and at least one got hit by a lawn mower), bricks, blocks, or rocks

Other news:

The soapwort we left to hold the soil has spread a bit too aggressively. I have messaged Andrew about replacing it with some "enthusiastic" native plants currently sitting around on my patio. If the available species are okay, we will need a planting party.

An acquaintance stopped me at the farmers market and handed me a $20 donation for plants for the project.

Harmar Days may be spilling over onto Fort Street. Who might be available to staff a table with information on native pollinator plantings and the Homegrown National Park project?

And a question: what is the best place to get informational signs printed? And the best place for sign holders?
