<div dir="ltr">George,<div><br></div><div>It appears that perhaps only the Ohio DNR was consulted about this project and also I happen to know that the Ohio office of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ecological Services office was consulted. Since the USACE responsibility lies primarily within the river channel which is in W. Virginia, makes me wonder why Ohio was even involved (perhaps Deep Rock requested that consultation knowing that Ohio would be easier to deal with). I would suggest that W. Virginia DNR be consulted and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Field Office (Ecological Services) recently relocated from Elkins to be co-located with Canaan Valley NWR near Davis, WV.</div><div><br></div><div>Vic</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, Aug 9, 2020 at 1:35 PM gbanz42--- via Green <<a href="mailto:green@fuusm.org">green@fuusm.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">GSC Colleagues:<br>

I have attached a list of questions/comments as follow-up to the virtual pubic meeting we had on August 7. These comments are due to the USACE by August 17. Please give me your edits/additions/deletions/comments by this Friday, August 14. I'll make changes. We can finalize the document and decide if we want to delegate these questions/comments at our meeting on the 16th. I'll send it on the evening of the 16th.<br>

I think we need to give the USACE a face-saving way to hold another meeting. Perhaps we can suggest that they tell Deep Rock that there were so many technical problems with the August 7 meeting that they need to schedule another meeting.<br>

Academic types are people who question rules & regulations. Scientists are people who make changes in rules and regulations in the face of empirical evidence. Elected officials are sensitive to public/constituent perspectives in setting rules & regulations....And military people are types who rigidly apply rules and regulations in an authoritative way. We saw the latter vividly demonstrated at the virtual meeting on Friday.<br>
