If it is for tax purposes then it seems they will need the tax
status of FUUSM and Green Sanctuary is a committee of FUUSM. This
changes how the money flows internally but perhaps FUUSM will need
to be reimbursed for some of their expenses for the money passing
through to Green Sanctuary (normally about 10%) of the total
amount. This is perhaps an internal discussion outside of the
committee but it seems important that the tax status is clear -
and that means FUUSM is the grant recipient passing the funds
along to Green Sanctuary for their Sustainable Marietta project.

Historically, we have never requested a budget line from the
FUUSM General Fund. We do have a “pocket change” account
overseen by the FUUSM treasurer, but funded primarily by
metals we collect and recycle. (And “we” in that last usage,
means Mike Bailey, primarily.) We occasionally have events
that unintentionally raise money, too. And we hold onto the
money until we need it for something—like to rent a movie, or
to pay for stipends for guest speakers. When we have had
fundraisers in the past, all proceeds went to the cause, such
as a matching grant from an anonymous donor to upgrade the
energy efficiency of the RE building, and the to assist with
installing and expanding the solar array on the sanctuary
roof. Some FUUSM trust fund contributed $1,000 toward the
postponed sustainability forum, but they did not specify how
to spend it. (We planned to use it to provide small stipends
to speakers; for printing and other publicity; and if
necessary, to cover costs of lunch. But, of course, that money
was never awarded.)
little to do with the GSC. I can produce the annual report for
the Green Sanctuary Committee, presented in late April 2020,
and representing the previous 12 months. I’ll dig that up and
send it to you next thing.
We have not done an audit on our finances in two years. We
did not know this would be required at some point in the
future or we would have arranged it earlier.
