I was very concerned with the quote in today's Marietta Times from the public affairs office of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington WV office, indicating that there is no plan to extend the comment period for this application.

I have sent the following message to Senators Portman and Brown. Please call their offices or send a version of this message via e-mail.

The US Army Corps of Engineers Huntington WV Office has received an application to build a facility to offload fracking (hydraulic fracturing) waste just south of Marietta. The comment period ends May 6. Many people in Marietta are very concerned about the health and environmental hazards of the proposed facility and about the timing of this comment period (when all news is consumed by the coronavirus). No public notice was given in the Marietta area for this project. Please help to get the USACE at least to extend the comment period. There was a front-page article in today's edition of the Marietta Times about this matter.
