Just had a message from Becca Pollard of the Sierra Club. She is
in town this weekend and is working on electricity aggregation
with renewable energy--has met with Dave Ballantyne, Chip
Pickering, and the city engineer and will be at the coffeehouse.
Can we add her to Sunday's agenda?

Here are the proposed agenda items for this Sunday, November 17th.
(1) Approval of minutes from October meeting
(2) Volunteer to do Green Tips for December orders of service
(3) Brief post-mortem of Beat Climate Change Coffee House - This Sat. Nov. 13th 7 pm
(4) Update on Sustainability Forum planning*
(5) Update on Citizens Climate Lobby-Marietta Chapter
*Sustainability Forum (January 31st-February 2nd) Update: Present were Dave, Adeline, and Dawn but also Vic Elam (manager of the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge), and Michael Chisholm, a chemical engineer with Dupont. Dave will continue trying to track down a speaker from Oberlin. The two new people seemed eager to help. Saturday night will be a keynote from Oberlin, hopefully, and the event will conclude Sunday afternoon with “How Do We Get There From Here?” Saturday morning and afternoon, of course, will have several workshops or … to be determined. We also decided that we ought to inform Mainstreet Marietta, the Washington County CVB, Marietta City Council, MOVCA and their list of WVUP students who are interested in volunteering on climate change issues, Marietta College’s eco club, and others who might be involved—tell them that it’s happening, where, and when. Get it on their agendas Now! The current plan is to kickoff Friday (January 21st) with a Just Dinner and a group discussion of “What Do We Mean By ‘Sustainable Marietta’?”, including what do we mean by “sustainability,” and what do we mean by “Marietta” (residential? commercial? governmental? transportation? businesses?)
Our next planning meeting will be Monday, November 4, at 7 p.m. I hope everyone can make it (via phone)! Invite people in the community that might be interested in helping with the planning. We need all hands on deck for this promising weekend event.
