the class for free if we're not paying the instructor or perhaps
we share the fee with the instructor and members can make a
donation. I think the solar classes have shown that we can
attract new people from the surrounding area to join us briefly.
Perhaps we could also hand out a little informational flyer on
FUUSM with class materials. I do think a fee for non-members is a
great way to increase revenue, and we need to have them pay ahead
of time so that they are more likely to show up, and not waste the
instructor's time. I hope to join the meeting of the Green
Sanctuary Committee Sun. to throw out some ideas for
consideration. Annie

donations like we do for the gardening classes, it helps raise

church members and they already donate so much, both money and

for this update. I love the idea of the forum. I am
thinking that there might be opportunities for advertising
to generate revenue at such a forum. This would enable us
to connect with regional businesses and like-minded
individuals who would support the efforts of such a
forum. This might increase revenue for the committee and
FUUSM in general. Also, I am wondering if we want to
consider how offering classes such as the ones we did this
year could increase revenue as well. In another month it
will be time for Jay and I to begin planning 2020 and how
we will offer classes. It seems that there might be other
folks who could teach for a fee and then split the fee
with the committee - activism, healthy fast food, etc. I
am willing to offer some time to help massage these and
other ideas. Hopefully I will be able to stay for the
Green Sanctuary Committee meeting on Sunday. Annie

planning a Sustainability Forum which we hope will
generate community-wide interest and participation, and
we request $500 to be spent on speaker stipends and
travel expenses.

The GSC has long operated on our
“pocket change fund,” raised entirely by collecting and
selling scrap aluminum and other metals to recycling
companies. This income source is unpredictable in its
timing and in the amount generated. In the present
fiscal year, we have spent $100 from that fund to
contribute to a scholarship for solar installer
training; $200 on stipends, travel expenses, and
materials for the Winter Gardening Series; and
memberships in the Ohio Environmental Council and
Friends of the Lower Muskingum River totaling $100.

Some small amount of money remains in
this fund, but we don’t expect that amount to be able to
cover the costs of the big, attention-grabbing
sustainability forum we’re envisioning for this winter.

Please note that the Green Sanctuary
Committee has raised more than $1,000 for the FUUSM
General Fund through four solar energy classes in a fee
splitting arrangement with Blue Rock Station. Our
fund-raising projects have not only supported FUUSM’s
solar installation and expansion, and the electrical
interconnectivity of the two buildings, but also matched
a $10,000 grant to improve energy efficiency in the RE
building. We have brought in more money to the FUUSM
General Fund than we are seeking to cover expenses
related to a Sustainability Forum.

Again, we are seeking a Green
