In checking it out more- I discovered that you can SEE this year's student submissions and VOTE until April 3. Check out this years submissions: http://www.planet911.org/voting There are two age-group categories: 11-16yrs. and 17-22. They encourage use of all media- music, poetry, film, etc. this year’s challenge topic is “How do you see the effect of climate change impacting your home, school, community or the world at large?”

If there is a way we can share this and get youth and others to view and participate in the voting- it would give them LOTS of interaction and a chance to see what others are doing to communicate about climate change. they may also get ideas about what they could do to create their own video, MOVCA is having a video PSA contest again this and this might inspire some of our local youth to participate.… IT’s interesting to see how they present the submissions, too.. THREE more days to see these.. and VOTE. It might be good to share with Ecohawks, the teachers who participated last year, our MOVCA educators and whoever you think might be interested. See what you think.

CHECK them out! and SHARE . Not sure if the submissions will still be there to view after April 3. we’ll have to see. Lots of ideas of what they do with youth, too. Feel free to forward this email to others.

Cindy Taylor

PS. This is what I’ve written preliminariy for the MOVCA minutes ( I’m the secretary who moves very slowly!) .. but don’t want to wait until I complete the minutes and many of you may not be members and might be interested. there are other links in this info below.

Cindy thought MOVCA might get ideas on youth engagement from another youth film competition offered by Earth Day International Film and media, a Texas non-profit corporation “EarthxFilm”.
