The way the League of Women Voters deals with it in Wood County is
to allow the candidate to read his/her statement or to give his/her
qualifications for office. As we understand it, that is not a
debate. Afterwards we have a meet/greet session where they can say
whatever they wish to whomever they wish. We do <u>not allow
representatives</u> of the candidate to read statements, but we
introduce them during the debate. This applies to all candidates,
not just national ones.<br>

did take a look at the website links you sent me and it is
very fuzzy. It seems clear that you cannot have folks debate
the issue if only one is present. On at least one of those
sheets, it seemed to be okay to allow candidates to read a
statement and for you to read a statement submitted by a
candidate and then allow them the opportunity to mingle with
the crowd and listen. </div>

contact. I know a few years ago when I was helping on an
election, I contacted this law firm about an issue and they
were very helpful to talk to. They also have a just society
