(Note: I won’t be there!)</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">We had a very brief GSC meeting after brunch this morning, and I think we have things under control, but just to make sure:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I think this is the plan:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">Solar Open House</b></div><div class=""><ul class=""><li class="">Will be set up outside, on the southeast (Huntington Bank) side of the RE building. </li><li class="">Much of the work can be done before and after services Sunday. It won’t take long to set up. </li><li class="">Items on display include</li><ul class=""><li class="">Solar space heater (Who is bringing that?)</li><li class="">Solar generator powering a fan (Who is bringing that?)</li><li class="">Solar clothes dryer (I will provide that, including a T-shirt hanging from it that says “Renewable is Doable!”)</li><li class="">Solar birdbath fountain (I will provide that. Please make sure the solar surface doesn’t face the sun unless the device is sitting in water.)</li><li class="">Big photos of our solar system left over from Earth Day. (I have them.)</li><li class="">Brochures about the Solar Match Fund to distribute to all who attend the open house. (I will make the copies; they might need to be folded.)</li><li class="">A donations-collection container for the Solar Match Fund (Surely there’s one in the fellowship hall we can borrow.)</li><li class="">Signs to direct plant sale attendees to the Solar Open House.</li></ul><li class="">Inside the RE building, the solar dashboard will be displayed on the large-screen TV, set up to block the downstairs hallway. We can invite (and accompany) interested folks to go up the stairs and look at the window to see the solar array.</li><li class="">We should encourage everyone who attends the Solar Open House to chip in to help us expand our solar generating capabilities by chipping in to the Solar Match Fund. Whatever they contribute will be DOUBLED!<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre;"> </span></li></ul><div class=""><b class="">Plant Sale and Bake Sale:</b></div></div><div class=""><ul class=""><li class="">Funds from these can be commingled, and Martha M. has volunteered to be in charge of the money box. Plant sale and bake sale raise funds to maintain our historic buildings. </li><li class="">Nancy N. (bless her heart) is coordinating the plant sale and the bake sale, and she thinks she’s fairly well set with helpers.</li><li class="">Roger K. will set up the canopies on Friday.</li><li class="">We were concerned that the trench for connecting the RE building would interfere with the plant sale, but it won’t be installed until July 6/7. (Whew!)</li><li class="">If any of you can contribute to the <b class="">bake sale</b>, that would be swell.</li><li class="">My porch is covered with plants—it looks like a greenhouse! Shari M. has offered to pick them up, but she has pneumonia! So Mike B. will help her, if necessary. The plants on my porch will fill the back of a pick-up truck, and I’ll have the solar stuff as well. (<u class="">Note: Not all the plants on my porch are intended for the sale</u>. I will label them carefully. I would like the trays/containers/container lids back if possible. I will put address labels on all the carriers I would like to have back. And if I don’t get them back, oh well.)</li></ul><div class="">That’s all I can think of. I’m truly sorry I won’t be there to help with this. I hope it’s a bright, sunshiny day, and that we make a million dollars for building maintenance, and raise $10,000 for the Solar Match Fund!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Either Nancy or I will email the entire FUUSM list as a reminder, and to ask for bake sale donations as well as plants.
