<div dir="ltr">Dawn and all,<div>Thanks for the minutes, yes great job Chris..and thanks for the information on the Cool Congregations Challenge from Interfaith Power and Light and I'm so glad you have help to fill in the application. I think what FUUSM has done is inspiring to congregations in our region and finding local resources and expertise seems noteworthy to me. The follow-up plans to link the two buildings and the additional donations are so exciting. </div><div><br></div><div>Regarding minutes_ two little additions/suggestions.. On the first line, the letter "F" seems missing in my copy.. for the name - First </div><div><br></div><div>From MOVCA.. I think I mentioned that MOVCA planned to participate in the Marietta Christmas parade and wants volunteers to join. ( They did! and marched with the banner, and I hear the Dave Ballantyne was there). I also shared information which Carol Sedgewick had shared at last MOVCA meeting about contacting 'your congresscritters'. you can see that brief info in the minutes attached the links to getting info are included. </div><div>I think Adeline also mentioned the January speaker for MOVCA is Roger Wilkens.. dates and details are in the attached. Dawn encourage GS to join MOVCA. <br></div><div><br></div><div>I was a bit dazed at the last GS meeting and didn't have all the information handy or in my head, sorry. I have just completed writing up the minutes from that meeting.( and Eric Engle, MOVCA leader will soon be sharing them with the full membership) . They are attached for you all and should clarify all of the above , plus info on the wonderful speakers we had, and perhaps you may want to look at the publication of the Peoples Pastoial from the Catholic Committee of Appalachia, titled <i>The Telling Takes Us Home: Taking Our Place in the Stories That Shape Us.</i> Maybe some of you want to participate in the January activities which will be held at the First Christian Church, 1400 Washington Ave, Parkersburg. At least you can put it on your calendar and share the news. </div><div><br></div><div>I have out of town family coming tomorrow so probably won't be at FUUSM tomorrow and not sure about being able to be at the next GS meeting. Please share reminder of MOVCA January events at that meeting.. </div><div>Thanks to you all for your work, inspiration and fellowship.</div><div><br></div><div>Cindy Taylor </div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Thu, Dec 8, 2016 at 10:01 PM, Dawn Hewitt via Green <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:green@fuusm.org" target="_blank">green@fuusm.org</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="word-wrap:break-word">Hi friends!<div><br></div><div>1. George Banziger instructed us as follows: Please arrange through our Treasurer, Linda Lawton, about how to arrange the monthly payment to Rumpke for the pick up of the recycling bin. I haven’t done that yet, but I will. I’ll try to remember to call Rumpke tomorrow to find out the specific details. The board also approved our letter to AA, and said it should go to all groups that rent our facilities. So, maybe we need a general-purpose letter to be handed out. We can send the letter to AA, and then modify it for other groups.</div><div><br></div><div>4. And most excitingly, is the Cool Congregation Challenge. Dear John,<br>
<br>
We are now just two weeks away from our annual Cool Congregations Challenge. The entry deadline is December 16, 2016.
<u><b>Enter for a chance to win $1,000 </b></u>for your congregation.<br>
<br>
Your congregation is eligible to enter if it has finished an energy efficiency, renewable energy, or grounds and water conservation project this year, or if it has engaged your community in response to global warming. There is also a planning category for those
who have recently finished their energy audit and developed plans for improvements.

<br>
Thank you for your stewardship of the Earth and for your eagerness to address global warming directly by becoming a sustainable congregation and role model.<br>

Sincerely,<br>

There are five categories, and congregations can enter up to three. Certainly we’d enter the renewable energy contest. This is a contest for projects completed between Jan. 1, 2016 and December 16, 2016, so if this contest happens again in 2017, it’ll be too late to tout our solar array. Another category involves what congregants themselves are doing in their own homes, and we can tout our low-carbon-diet project. Collectively, we reduced a lot of carbon! </div><div><br></div><div>So, the thing is, I don’t want to fill out these forms all by myself (although I will if I have to). Are there any volunteers who would meet with me for a few hours this weekend or some evening next week, and we can fill out the forms together, making sure they’re as duly persuasive and otherwise perfect? </div><div><br></div><div>I know this contest comes at a busy time of year, but it really shouldn’t take too long to enter. Any volunteers?</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks!</div><div><br></div><div>—dawn</div><div><br></div><br></div></div><br>______________________________<wbr>_________________<br>
