<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=utf-8"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;" class="">Dear Greenies,<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I remembered to call Rumpke today on my lunch hour, and found out that it will cost $31 per month for weekly collection of a 95-gallon bin at FUUSM. (That’s the same size as the Rumple trash bin they pick up weekly at FUUSM.) </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Here’s the catch, as I suspected: Rumpke does not take plastics if they’re not bottle- or jug-shaped. So, we’ll have to have a bin in the kitchen for mixed recyclables (glass, paper, cardboard, steel cans, and bottle-shaped plastics), one for aluminum, and one for plastics that aren’t bottle shaped but are numbers 1,2 4 and 5 (which the Marietta Area Recycling Center will take) and plastic bags. This if-then-else logic will make it challenging for outside groups renting the Fellowship Hall. We will have to be very clear in labeling the bins in the kitchen. Still, won’t it be helpful and efficient if we can take a basket of mixed recyclables out to the collection bin as needed? And we will certainly free up storage space in the kitchen!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">We’ll still need volunteers to collect the 1,2,4,and 5 plastics and plastic bags to take to the recycling center. Sign me up. I take <i class="">Bird Watcher’s Digest</i>’s recycling to to the recycling center every few weeks anyhow. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I am now going to email Linda Lawton (FUUSM treasurer) with the information she needs to contact Rumpke to make this recycling bin happen soon!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Yay team! And thank you, FUUSM Board!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">—dawn</div></body></html>
