I am currently working on my Gold Award with local college student Annalise Bennett (copied here). I have also copied Dr. Elliott, my mom, who works at the Leadership Department at Marietta College. The Gold Award is the highest level of service that a girl scout can complete. It requires at least eighty hours toward an original project to meet a community need that has self-sustaining impact and lasting value. For my Gold Award project, I aim to raise funds for various pre-existing LGBTQ+ centers and communities around the area, as well as locally educate and raise awareness for queer people. Seeing as you all are an organization who works with queer youth, I would be honored to invite you into the conversation and interview you on what paths we might take. As part of the Gold Award journey, I will need to build a team of experts and people passionate about my chosen cause. If you're up to it, we could potentially schedule a time for Annalise, you, and I to sit down together and talk. If you're available at 3:30 on Wednesdays, Annalise and I usually meet then at the McDonough center. We can also walk over to the FUUSM church building if you prefer.
