The Board in June had a discussion about AA meeting and voted on it. It passed to allow them to continue to use the Social Hall. I voted “yes”. I did not care if there were 10 or 20 people in the group. I know they needed to meet during these stressful times.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Then due to the “uproar” of some members of the church, somehow without my knowing, the decision was changed - that they could not meet until we had health procedures in place.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">So we only added to their stress of not knowing if and when they would be able to meet at our church. I am not happy about this and agree with you that perhaps they need to find another place that will support them.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Chris<br class=""><div><br class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><div class="">On Jun 13, 2020, at 10:25 PM, B.Lisk <<a href="mailto:blisk@att.net" class="">blisk@att.net</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div class="">

<div class="">I know the groups in McConnelsville each have hand sanitizers, wipes,
masks, distance observation, no hugging or hand shakes, and they follow
all recommendations for safety. Each group cleans after themselves via wiping
down all chairs, tables, coffee pots, restrooms, doors and anything that may be
touched. The meeting place is offered by Cedar Ridge Behavioral Health and their
janitorial service also cleans everything on weekends.</div>
<div class=""> </div>
<div class="">I think this issue, like many others, are talked to death by some FUUSM
committees until sometimes decisions are made by only a few, if any are ever
made. However, that being said, I think Larry and the members may decide to just
go somewhere else, if they can find a suitable venue. I am disappointed to think
such a large room, with UV sanitization cannot be used per usual if guidelines
are observed.</div>

<div class="">Some peoples lives do hang in the balance. Thank you to all who
support cutting the red tape and going directly to the point of “keep it simple”
it really is not the reinvention of the wheel.</div>

<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">Hello everyone. I thought I might weigh
in on the discussion regarding AA meeting in the sanctuary. <br class=""></div>
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class=""> </div>
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">In-person, face to face contact is an
important part of recovery groups whether it's AA, NA, Al-Anon, Weight
Watchers, and so on. Not having that kind of intensive support increases
many members chance of relapse and threatens their
sobriety/abstinence/life. Therefore, the sooner folks have a chance to
meet, the better for them and for our community. I'm sure there
must be some sort of protocol the AA group is observing when they meet for
their home meetings at "AA headquarters" on the corner of 3rd and Scammel, and
elsewhere. My guess is that it is protocol that the Ohio Department of
Health has established. I'm sure it includes hand-washing, hand
disinfectant, wearing of face masks, and disinfection of surfaces, like tables
and chairs.<br class=""><br class="">
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">It seems to me we do not have to reinvent the
wheel in order to allow AA to use the property, including being permitted to
make coffee. The only thing that needs to be established is whether the
AA group disinfects after themselves and supplies the disinfecting supplies,
or whether FUUSM does that. Since the AA group already cleans up after
themselves, it seems they can continue to do that with disinfecting supplies
that they bring with them. Or FUUSM can supply the alcohol or bleach
solution and cleaning cloth.<br class=""><br class="">
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">It also makes sense to me that FUUSM
committees should be able to hold the same kind of physically distancing
meetings and make the use of masks a requirement for in-person meetings.
Those on committees who cannot face to face meet or who do not wish to, can
attend via zoom just like they do for Sunday service.<br class=""><br class="">
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">I believe the limit of ten people in
attendance at group meetings has been lifted as the State of Ohio has
reopened, however it seems that it's still too early to hold church services
or sporting events. Personally, it's too early for me to enter back into
many social interactions, just as it is for many in the congregation. We
all have to realize that each of us is responsible for our own health
protection and that we each must take appropriate precautions. We must
also realize that what is appropriate for me as a 65+, heart and lung
compromised, and immune compromised person (with the exception of a mask)
isn't the same for someone else. <br class=""><br class="">
<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false" class="">I don't serve on any committees, but I hope
those who do, take these observations under consideration. I am willing
to find out how other meetings are being held and gather the ODHS
recommendations to share with you.
Thanks.<br class=""></div></div></div>
