Wondering and Wandering: Exploring Dark Tourism

November 24 11 am - Katy McDaniel Worship Leader: Suzyn Mills

If you've ever toured a battlefield, visited a disaster memorial, or explored a site associated with terrible events in the past, you have participated in Dark Tourism, a term referring to travel to places associated with calamity or death. Why do we seek out these places? Such journeys might be considered pilgrimages for a secular age. Dark Tourism provides opportunities for contemplating mortality, considering how we ourselves might respond in disastrous situations, and connecting with and memorializing unfortunate people in our collective past.
